The Nitro Express Rifle is one of the most powerful weapons in Hunt: Showdown. Boasting its own specialty ammo, it has the capability to kill a healthy hunter in a single shot within close to medium ranges. It does, however, come with its own drawbacks. Ammo is limited, with the player having a maximum ammo count of six rounds. Using Special Ammo, resupplying it is more difficult and in incredibly small quantities. This in addition to the weapon being a side-by-side severely punishes the player for any missed rounds. The weapon is also mounted with a bulky peep sight, greatly restricting the players vision when they use the weapons irons.
The weapon is favored for its ability to quickly kill other hunters with a single shot. It should be noted however that at greater ranges the rifle has a chance to require additional follow up to guarantee a kill. Its damage against non-player targets is sporadic. It can deal tremendous amounts of damage to bosses, a pair of Nitro equipped hunters being able to kill a bounty within moments. However it has been recorded needing multiple rounds against weaker targets such as hives. This paired with its limited ammo count suggest it should only be used against players or the bounties themselves.
The Nitro uses Special Nitro ammo with unique damage ratios: Head: 2.0 - Upper Torso: 0.52 - Torso: 0.52 - Arms: 0.25 - Legs: 0.2
This means that the Nitro won't necessarily one-shot a full health hunter even at close range if the bullet hits the arms or legs.
The Nitro Express can rarely be found in the Bayou.

These modified bullets expand and shred on impact, causing severe bleeding. They do not lose all of their penetration power, and do lose some muzzle velocity.

Description[ | ]
This bullet contains a small charge that bursts on impact, scattering shrapnel over an area--the larger the bullet size, the greater the area. Reduced penetration, velocity, and damaqe, but a well-aimed shot can tear apart Grunts, Hives, and Hellhounds.
